LibraZiK-4 live: new version

Dear LibraZiK-ies,
A new version of the LibraZiK-4 Live image is available.
As a reminder, this live image allows you to start LibraZiK-4 from a USB key on computers that allow this functionality, which gives you the possibility to walk around with a LibraZiK-4 in a USB key, to test LibraZiK-4 without installing it on a hard disk, and also to install it on a machine from this USB key.
Since the latest problems of unavailability of the website with the previous the LibraZiK project hoster, the LibraZiK-4 live image was unavailable because the file got lost for the moment. By the way, if you have an ISO image file of this LZK-4 live version, please contact us as we would be interested in recovering it for historical purposes.
To compensate for the lack of a Live image for LibraZiK-4, a new version has been produced to offer this facility to everyone once again.
As usual, this live version includes a pre-selection of several software packages, a set of pre-configurations, and is designed to allow users to test LibraZiK-4 without installing it on a machine but booting the system from a USB key. You will need to check whether your machine is capable of this.
Two versions for 64-bit hardware architecture are now available, one in English and one in French. The documentation for building this USB flash drive is available in the manual.
Another possibility with this USB key is that after booting a computer on the LibraZiK-4 system present on the ‘live’ USB key, you can then install the system on the machine's hard disk. The documentation for installing using this method has yet to be reviewed at the time of publication of this blog post, but the previous documentation for the live LibraZiK-3 is probably still largely valid. The more experienced among you will probably be able to follow and adapt this installation manual for LibraZiK-3 live to a LibraZiK-4 live, for others, you can contact us.
No 32-bit version of live, because too few users use it. If you need it, you can install a 32-bit LibraZiK using methods other than live. Anyone who needs a 32-bit version of live can always contact us to discuss what is possible and reasonable to do.
Compared with the previous live version of LibraZiK-4 dating from January 2024, this new version offers the following advantages in particular:
- a large number of software updates
- the addition of several TuxGuitar modules
- hardware drivers have been added to enable recognition of additional wifi interfaces
Don't forget that your donations are important to move the project forward.
Good and happy musics to you!
Olivier
